of masochism with a tour of ocanews.org. Am I the only one looking at what's happening in the Antiochian Archdiocese and thinking "Oh my goodness, what's next?"
A few weeks ago I spoke with our two priests (both wonderful, thoughtful and prayerful men) who were also amazed and horrified at the goings-on at the "Top". One said that about all we can do short term is pray and hope that everyone comes to their senses. I also spoke to one of our seminarians, a third year student from Holy Cross, who said he hated that site and questioned the fairness of OCA News. I explained to him that Mark has called for explanations from both sides of all the issues. From one side he gets facts, events, public documents, evidence. From the other side, he gets letters full of insults, Old World curses, arguments ad hominem, and even physical threats. No facts, alternative explanations, no support of external audits. I gave him a bit of the history of "Stookey's" website and its success in pointing out the problems that the OCA had and how it helped them get past their biggest financial problems. (I love the AOCA's references to the subversive folk group Peter Paul & Mary!) Anyway, I advised him to watch and listen to everything with an open and fair mind. He'll do very well, though; a super young man! Subdeacon Bob
Prayer, together with almsgiving can furnish us with countless good things from above. They can quench the fire of sin in our souls and can give us great freedom. Cornelius had recourse to these two virtues and sent his prayers up to heaven. Because of these two virtues he heard the angel say: “Thy prayers and they alms have gone up and been remembered in the sight of God.” (Acts 10:4)

Unfortunately I wish the things on ocanews.org weren't true but the record is clear. Sigh.
