One site on the www...

theantiochian.com is reporting that the Holy Synod of Antioch has reaffirmed the February 24th decision altering the status of all diocesan bishops to auxiliaries. The official site antiochian.org is silent and so is the more reliable site ocanews.org. We''ll have to wait and see.

  1. A few hours after theantiochian.com reported the Damascus synod had reaffirmed its earlier decision the "theantiochian" site has gone down displaying this rather cryptic message;

    "Maintenance Mode TheAntiochian.com is currently undergoing scheduled maintenance.Please try back in 60 minutes.Sorry for the inconvenience."

    Elsewhere it is reported that the Synod is still meeting and is scheduled to finish on Friday. The message on "theantiochian" has appeared for about 10 hours at this point.

  2. You're correct. I don't trust theantiochian.com because they've been off a number of time and in this case they may be overplaying their hand. The waiting, though, is difficult at times but it must be.

  3. Metropolitan Philip, Primate of the Antiochian Orthodox Archdiocese of America, needs to release a statement to various Antiochian websites that will clarify the title of American Antiochian Orthodox Bishops, as a result of decisions made at the Holy Synod meetings in Damascus recently. Did the Holy Synod decide that these Bishops should be called Bishops or Auxiliaries? If the Holy Synod did not make a decision on this matter, does that mean that these Bishops will continue to be called Auxiliaries?
